Council on Aging defends services amid town budget cuts

LANCASTER — The Council on Aging discusses implications of a $450,000 town budget cut narrowly approved at Annual Town Meeting. Town Administrator John Woodsmall reviewed the reduction's potential impact on a proposed Administrative Assistant expansion from 15 to 35 hours weekly at the COA and Community Center. Board members voiced strong support for maintaining level services, emphasizing the importance of community programs for vulnerable residents and the role these services play in combating social isolation.
The committee also announced increased circulation for the June Community Crier to 750 copies monthly and reinstated the MART Connects transportation assistance program as of April 28.
