Select Board Raises Ambulance Rates Despite One Member's Opposition
Select Board · Meeting of March 2, 2026
Lancaster Select Board votes 2-1 to raise ambulance rates after years unchanged. The Board approved new basic life support rates of $1,500, ALS-1 at $1,900, ALS-2 at $2,800, and $37 per mile, with Board Member David Carr dissenting due to concerns about the abrupt increase after a prolonged freeze. Board Chair Jason Allison countered that unrecovered ambulance billing costs shift to taxpayers through the general fund.
The Board unanimously recommended two fire equipment leases for the March 9 special town meeting: a 2,000-gallon tanker truck and a new Class 1 ambulance.
