Commission on Disability identifies accessibility issues at local businesses

LANCASTER — The Commission on Disability identified persistent accessibility barriers at local businesses and initiated outreach to address them. During a June 16 meeting, Chair Michael McCue and members Kathleen Suits, James Peters, and Lesley Allison noted issues at DiMeccos and Lancaster Gardens, including narrow aisles, floor hazards, and inadequate handicapped parking. The Commission assigned members to contact the new owners of Lancaster Gardens about improvements and discussed preliminary plans for Lancaster Accessibility Awareness Month, including potential collaboration with the RFK Community Alliance on educational programming.
