Planning Board schedules ADU bylaw hearing for February
Planning Board · Meeting of January 12, 2026
Lancaster Planning Board schedules ADU bylaw hearing for February 9. The Planning Board, with four members present, scheduled a public hearing on accessory dwelling unit revisions following Attorney General comments on a regulation the town approved last May. During the meeting, Planning Director Brian Keating discussed five articles the board is proposing for Annual Town Meeting: ADU regulations, ground-mounted solar, South Lancaster IPOD zoning, MBTA district compliance, and front-yard setbacks.
The board directed Keating to explore with the Metropolitan Area Regional Council a potential 40R overlay district designed to achieve MBTA housing density targets of 17.9 units per acre.
